Located on the unceded ancestral homeland of many distinct communities of Native people, the San Francisco Bay Area is comprised of the nine counties surrounding the San Francisco Bay: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, and San Mateo. The original inhabitants understood the interconnectedness of all things and maintained harmony with nature for millennia. Their descendants are still here and continue to be stewards of these lands.
